Package Highlights

Bhanoti Peak Summit Expedition is a challenging high-altitude Himalayan expedition in the Sunderdhunga Valley of Bageshwar, Uttarakhand. Standing at 5,645 meters, Bhanoti Peak is ideal for experienced trekkers who want to move towards technical mountaineering and attempt a real Himalayan summit. The route begins from Dau village, located around one kilometer before Khati, and continues through Ridang, Jaitoli, Kathaliya, Base Camp, Advance Base Camp and Camp 1 before the final summit attempt.

This expedition offers a raw and remote Himalayan experience with dense forests, alpine meadows, moraines, rocky terrain, snow slopes and technical summit sections. The climb gives trekkers a chance to witness spectacular views of Nanda Devi, Panwali Dwar, Maiktoli and other Himalayan peaks from the summit zone. The trail also includes the sacred Devi Kund, a glacial lake located in the high mountains.

The package is designed for trekkers with strong fitness, previous trekking experience and the willingness to handle demanding terrain. With expedition leaders, co-trek leaders, high-altitude porters, camping arrangements, forest permits and essential climbing equipment included, this is a complete summit-focused adventure for those looking to upgrade from trekking to mountaineering.

Itinerary

Day 1 Kathgodam to Dau
Start your expedition with a scenic 238 km drive from Kathgodam to Dau, a peaceful Himalayan village located at around 2,200 meters. After reaching Dau by evening, settle into your homestay and attend a detailed briefing session with the trek leader covering the expedition plan, route, safety instructions and important protocols
Day 2 Dau to Jaitoli
After breakfast, begin your trek from Dau towards Jaitoli. The trail starts with a descent towards the Pindar River, followed by a forested climb towards Jaitoli, which is the last inhabited village on this route. Overnight stay will be arranged in a homestay or tent.
Day 3 Jaitoli to Kathaliya
Today’s trek covers around 12 km through forest trails, riverside sections and remote Himalayan landscapes. The route gradually takes you deeper into the Sunderdhunga region before reaching Kathaliya at around 3,250 meters. Overnight stay will be in camps
Day 4 Kathaliya to Base Camp
Trek from Kathaliya towards Base Camp through a steep uphill section to Baluni Top, where you can witness beautiful views of Panwali Dwar and Maiktoli peaks. Continue further to reach Base Camp at around 4,200 meters, which acts as the main staging point for the summit attempt.
Day 5 Base Camp to Advance Base Camp
Begin a short but demanding high-altitude trek to Advance Base Camp at around 4,800 meters. The trail passes through moraines, rocky terrain and unpredictable mountain weather conditions. Spend the rest of the day resting and acclimatizing at the campsite.
Day 6 Advance Base Camp to Camp 1
Trek from Advance Base Camp to Camp 1 at around 5,200 meters. This is an important acclimatization and summit preparation day. The expedition team sets up camp while the expedition leader gives final instructions for the next day’s summit attempt.
Day 7 Camp 1 to Bhanoti Peak Summit and Return to Advance Base Camp
Start early for the summit attempt to Bhanoti Peak at 5,645 meters. The climb includes steep snow slopes and technical sections, making it the most demanding and rewarding day of the expedition. After reaching the summit and enjoying views of Nanda Devi, Panwali Dwar, Maiktoli and other Himalayan peaks, descend back to Advance Base Camp for an overnight stay
Day 8 Advance Base Camp to Kathaliya via Devi Kund
Descend from Advance Base Camp to Kathaliya through the sacred Devi Kund route. The trail involves moraines, scree sections and careful navigation, so trekkers need to walk with full attention. Reach Kathaliya and rest at the campsite for the night.
Day 9 Kathaliya to Jaitoli
Retrace the route back from Kathaliya to Jaitoli. This 12 km return trek allows you to enjoy the peaceful forest trails and remote Himalayan surroundings once again while descending towards the village section of the route
Day 10 Jaitoli to Dau
Complete the final trekking stretch from Jaitoli to Dau. The route descends towards the Pindar River and then ascends back towards Dau village. Celebrate the successful completion of the trekking section with your expedition team.
Day 11 Buffer Day
This day is kept as a safety buffer for weather delays, acclimatization issues or route-related changes. If the expedition goes as planned, the day can be used for rest or exploring the nearby surroundings before the return journey.
Day 12 Dau to Kathgodam

Know Before You Go
    • Bhanoti Peak is a challenging high-altitude expedition with steep ascents, rocky sections and possible snow conditions. Trekkers should have strong endurance, good leg strength and cardiovascular fitness before joining this summit expedition. The PDF recommends starting training at least 8 to 10 weeks in advance for better preparation.
    • Carry proper layering including thermal base layers, fleece jacket, insulated down jacket, waterproof jacket, trekking pants, woolen cap, buff, gloves and trekking socks. Waterproof high-ankle trekking boots, camp shoes, gaiters, a 50–60L backpack with rain cover and a 20–30L daypack are recommended for this expedition.
    • Carry essential personal items such as sunscreen, lip balm, toiletries, toilet paper, wet wipes, basic medicines, ORS, energy bars, dry fruits, chocolates, water bottles, thermos, headlamp, extra batteries and power bank. ID proof such as Aadhaar, Passport or Voter ID is also required, and a medical certificate may be needed if asked.
    • For fitness preparation, include running, stair climbing with backpack, cycling or swimming, skipping, squats, lunges, step-ups, planks, long hikes with a loaded backpack and incline treadmill walks. Hydration, protein intake, complex carbs and gradual load training are important for better acclimatization and performance.
    • Trekkers must follow the expedition leader’s instructions at all times. Do not ignore fatigue, altitude symptoms, pain or breathing discomfort. Stay hydrated, pack light, avoid unnecessary bulky items and prepare seriously because this is not a regular beginner trek.
