Kafni Glacier Trek Package 5 Nights 6 Days is an adventurous glacier trek in the Kumaon Himalayas of Uttarakhand. Located in the Bageshwar district, Kafni Glacier lies at the base of Nanda Kot Peak, with the glacier zero point situated at around 3,860 meters. The uploaded itinerary mentions that the trek follows the same route as Pindari Glacier up to Dwali, after which the trail separates towards Kafni Glacier.

This trek is ideal for trekkers looking for a more raw and offbeat Himalayan experience. The best time to visit is mid-April to mid-June and mid-September to mid-November

Itinerary

Day 1 Kathgodam to Khati Village
  • Your journey begins early in the morning around 6:30 AM from Kathgodam. After meeting the team, begin your scenic mountain drive towards Khati Village.
  • The route passes through winding Kumaon roads, lush valleys, peaceful villages and beautiful mountain landscapes. After around 8 to 9 hours of travel, reach Khati Village by evening.
  • Khati is one of the key base villages for glacier treks in this region. On arrival, check in to a cozy homestay and relax after the long road journey.
  • In the evening, meet your trek leader for a briefing session about the trek route, safety precautions, weather conditions, difficult sections and next day’s plan.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be in Khati Village.
Day 2 Khati Village to Dwali
  • After an early breakfast, begin your trek from Khati Village to Dwali. The trek starts around 7:00 AM and covers approximately 13 km.
  • The trail includes a mix of ascents and descents, passing through dense forests, wooden bridges and scenic routes along the Pindar River. The sound of the river, mountain air and peaceful forest sections make this day beautiful and refreshing.
  • Reach Dwali by late afternoon. Dwali is the common route point from where one trail moves towards Pindari Glacier and another towards Kafni Glacier, as mentioned in the source itinerary.
  • Check in to the guest house, enjoy a hot dinner and rest for the next day’s challenging trail.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be in Dwali.
Day 3 Dwali to Khatiya
  • After breakfast, begin your trek from Dwali to Khatiya. This section is around 7 km and usually takes 4 to 5 hours.
  • This is one of the more challenging parts of the trek. The trail moves through rough sections, landslide-prone areas and disturbed patches, making the day adventurous and demanding.
  • Trekkers need to walk carefully as the route may include unclear trails, boulder sections and tricky stretches. Follow the trek leader’s instructions throughout this section.
  • Reach Khatiya by mid-afternoon. Depending on the final arrangement and weather conditions, stay will be arranged in a guest house or tent.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be near Khatiya.
Day 4 Khatiya to Kafni Glacier Zero Point and Return to Dwali
  • This is the most exciting and important day of the trek. Start early in the morning and trek towards Kafni Glacier Zero Point.
  • The trail takes you close to the glacier region, offering beautiful views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks, rough glacier terrain and high-altitude landscapes.
  • Kafni Glacier Zero Point is located at around 3,860 meters, and the trek offers a special chance to witness the glacier snout and the river originating directly from the glacier.
  • After spending quality time at the glacier viewpoint, return towards Khatiya for lunch. Later, continue your descent towards Dwali.
  • This day involves around 17 km of total trekking and may take 7 to 8 hours depending on group pace and trail conditions.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be in Dwali.
Day 5 Dwali to Khati Village
  • After breakfast, begin your return trek from Dwali to Khati Village.
  • The trail retraces the route through forests, riverbanks, wooden bridges and peaceful Himalayan sections. Since the descent is long, maintain a steady pace and follow the group movement.
  • Reach Khati Village by early evening. Check in to your homestay and relax after completing the major trekking part of the journey.
  • Enjoy your final evening in the mountains with the group.
  • Dinner and overnight stay will be in Khati Village.
Day 6 Khati Village to Kathgodam
  • After breakfast, check out from the homestay and begin your return journey.
  • Board the shared Bolero towards Bharadi, and from there continue the onward vehicle journey back to Kathgodam.
  • Reach Kathgodam by evening, marking the end of your Kafni Glacier Trek Package 5 Nights 6 Days.
  • Your journey ends with memories of Khati Village, Dwali, Khatiya, Kafni Glacier Zero Point and the raw beauty of the Kumaon Himalayas.

Child Policy
