Trek Highlights

Three days, two nights, and one clear goal: reach Mana Pass (5,608 m) and see DeoTaal without signing up for a week-long trek.

We start in Haridwar, follow the Ganga and the five Prayags up to Badrinath, and settle in for evening darshan. Day 2 takes us through Mana village (India’s last settlement before Tibet) then a short, level walk to the DeoTaal. After photos and permits, our tempo traveller take us up the rough switchbacks to Mana Pass for high-altitude views of Chaukhamba, Nilkanth, and the Tibetan plateau. We descend to Auli for dinner on same day.

On Day 3 we roll back down the Alaknanda valley, reach Haridwar by early evening, and drop you at the station or Har-ki-Pauri aarti. Transport, permits, lodge and resort stays, and all meals (breakfasts and dinners) are covered - so you only need day-packs, warm layers, and a bit of altitude sense.

Itinerary

Day 1 From Haridwar to Badrinath (320 km drive, 10–11 hr)
  • Wake with the first light and leave Haridwar early so city traffic stays light.
  • The cool breeze through the windows carries the smell of river mist as we roll into lively Rishikesh.
  • Back on the road, the bus glides beside the sparkling Ganga while white temples flash.
  • We pause at Devprayag for quick snacks and wait on a small balcony that looks over the meeting point of the Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers.
  • Still following the water, we drive past hanging cliffs and pine hills until quick stop for lucnh at Rudraprayag calls us for a friendly vegetarian thali.
  • After lunch the road climbs through Karanprayag where we stop for a quick photo, refill water bottles, and breathe the crisp air rolling off the peaks.
  • Later in the day the sacred town of Badrinath appears.
  • We check into a simple but warm stay, a short walk from the temple so the evening aarti is easy to join.
  • Those who wish can take quick dips to the nearby hot spring.
  • A filling dinner is served back at the stay, and early lights out lets everyone rest deep for the next day’s wonders.
Day 2 From Badrinath to Deotaal and Mana pass, then to Auli (110 km drive plus 3 km walk, 8–9 hr)
  • Breakfast will be ready bright and early to fuel the day ahead.
  • A short drive carries us to Mana village, the last settlement on the road.
  • We shoulder light packs and start the steady climb toward DeoTaal along a soft trail.
  • A gentle 15-minute walk across open meadow brings us to the clear lake sparkling under the sky.
  • You can pause for quick photos here.
  • From there we push on to the 5 600-metre pass, enjoying wide snow views that stretch toward distant peaks.
  • We then descend back to Badrinath where a hot lunch waits.
  • In the afternoon the road winds through Joshimath and climbs again to the slopes of Auli.
  • We aim to check in by evening so you can settle into the stay before dark.
  • A tasty dinner is served at night, perfect for sharing stories of the day’s sights.
  • Afterward we head to our rooms and slip under warm blankets for a well-earned rest.
Day 3 From Auli to Haridwar; (220 km drive, 8–9 hr)
  • A yummy breakfast will be served in the morning.

  • After that we will depart from Auli, descending to Joshimath and onward to a tea-and-maggi break above Karanprayag.

  • We will reach Srinagar Garhwal for a quick lunch, then follow the widening river valley toward Rishikesh for a brief rest.

  • Expected arrival in Haridwar in the evening, allowing convenient drop-off at Har-ki-Pauri or the railway station in time for the evening Ganga aarti or onward trains.

  • We really wish you enjoy us on our next adventure! See you soon

Know Before You Go
  • Season & road status
Mana Pass generally opens only twice a year - roughly mid-June to mid-July and again from early September until snowfall shuts it down. Check the exact window with us before you lock dates; a late storm or BRO maintenance can close the route overnight.

  • Permits & altitude discipline
The pass sits at 5,608 m, so inner-line permits (Indian nationals only) and a government photo ID are mandatory. Plan to hydrate, walk slowly, and skip alcohol the night before; even a short stay at that height can trigger AMS if you rush.

  • Gear for high roads, not long treks
Pack layered clothing, a down or heavy synthetic jacket, windproof gloves, UV sunglasses, sunblock, and sturdy walking shoes. You’ll spend hours in a moving vehicle but step out into thin, biting air, so cotton hoodies won’t cut it. Throw in a power bank and cash; card machines rarely work past Joshimath.
