A 7 day Nagaland experience combining tribal culture, mountain treks, village heritage, festival celebrations, and high altitude camping. Expect winding hill drives, forest trails, panoramic valley views, authentic Naga cuisine, live music nights, and a full day trek into Dzukou Valley.

All transportation, festival entry coordination, permits, and trek arrangements are managed by the SkyHike team for a smooth experience.

On arrival at Dimapur Airport or Railway Station, a SkyHike representative will receive you and assist with your luggage before beginning the drive to Kohima.
The 70 km journey takes approximately 3 to 4 hours as the road gradually climbs into Nagaland’s hills. The drive is scenic, with winding mountain roads, small roadside settlements, and changing valley views. If time permits, you may stop at the Kachari Ruins near Dimapur to see ancient monolithic structures.
As you approach Kohima, the air becomes cooler and the town appears layered along the hillside. After reaching, check into your homestay or hotel and take time to settle in.
Dinner will be served at your accommodation. The evening is kept relaxed so you can rest after travel.

Drive: Kohima to Jotsoma ~10 km | 30 mins
Trek: 3.5 km one way | 2–2.5 hrs round trip
Drive: Jotsoma to Khonoma ~20 km | 1 hr
After breakfast, you drive to Jotsoma, the base for the Pulie Badze trek. The short 30 minute drive takes you through forested roads.
From Jotsoma, begin the 3.5 km forest trail towards Pulie Badze Peak. The path passes through dense greenery and gradually ascends. The climb is moderate and manageable with steady pacing. On reaching the top, you are rewarded with panoramic views of Kohima Valley and surrounding hills.
After descending back to Jotsoma, you continue your drive to Khonoma Village, around 20 km away. The one hour drive takes you deeper into Angami tribal territory.
Khonoma is known for its eco conservation efforts and traditional architecture. You will explore the village lanes, traditional houses, and learn about its history as Asia’s first green village.

Drive: Khonoma to Kohima ~20 km | 1 hr
Local Travel: 5–8 km within town
After breakfast, you drive back to Kohima.
Today is dedicated to understanding the town’s heritage and history. You will visit the Kohima War Cemetery, a beautifully maintained memorial honoring soldiers from World War II. The site offers both historical context and valley views.
Next, visit Kohima Cathedral, one of the largest churches in Northeast India. You may also explore local museums that showcase tribal artifacts, textiles, and traditional weapons.
In the evening, you can walk through Kohima’s local markets. This is a good opportunity to observe daily life and try traditional Naga dishes at local eateries.

Drive: Kohima to Kisama ~12 km | 30 mins
After breakfast, you drive to Kisama Heritage Village, the venue for the Hornbill Festival.
The festival showcases traditional dances, tribal music, indigenous games, crafts, and food from different Naga tribes. You will have ample time to walk around, interact with local performers, and witness cultural performances.
Food stalls offer authentic Naga cuisine. The environment is lively but organized, allowing you to explore comfortably.
In the evening, return to Kohima for the Night Carnival, which takes place in the city center. Expect live music, local stalls, festive lighting, and a cheerful atmosphere.
Return to your accommodation after the celebrations.

Local Ride: Rough road ~8 km | 30–40 mins
Trek Distance: ~12 km | Duration: 4–5 hrs
After an early breakfast, drive to Viswema Village, the starting point for the Dzukou trek.
From Viswema, you switch to a local vehicle for a short off road stretch before beginning the trek. The first 4 km involve a steep climb that takes around 2 hours. This section requires steady effort, and breaks will be taken as needed.
Once you reach the ridge, the trail becomes gradual and scenic for the next 8 km. The landscape slowly opens into rolling grasslands.
By afternoon, you enter Dzukou Valley, known for its wide meadows and seasonal flowers. The atmosphere feels calm and open.
You will stay overnight in tents arranged by the SkyHike team. Basic facilities are available.

Trek Back: 12 km | 4–5 hrs
Drive: Viswema to Kohima ~25 km | 1 hr
Wake up early to explore the valley during morning light. Short optional walks around ridges and streams allow you to see more of the landscape.
After breakfast, begin the descent back via the same route. The downhill trek takes approximately 4 to 5 hours.
On reaching Viswema, your vehicle will transfer you back to Kohima.
Check into your hotel and rest after the trekking effort.
