Majua Top Trek is a peaceful beginner friendly trekking experience in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, located above Karmi village in Bageshwar district at an altitude of around 2,800 meters. The trail is known for its open grassy slopes, calm campsite surroundings and beautiful panoramic views of the Himalayan ranges. From the top, travellers can witness stunning views of Maiktoli, Nanda Kot, Panwali Dwar and the Sunderdhunga range, along with wide valleys and scattered mountain villages.

This trek is ideal for first time trekkers, families, school and college groups, corporate outings and travellers who want a short mountain escape without a difficult trekking route. Since the trek starts near a sheep farm accessible by road, it is easier than many high altitude Himalayan treks and can be enjoyed by almost anyone who is comfortable walking. The experience includes camping, bonfire evenings, stargazing, meadow walks, sunrise and sunset viewpoint visits and time to relax in nature.

Majua Top is not just about trekking. It also gives travellers a chance to experience local Kumaoni mountain life, walk through traditional shepherd routes, understand sheep farming culture and enjoy peaceful Himalayan village surroundings. Itinerary

Day 1 Journey from Kathgodam to Majua Top
  • Your journey begins from Kathgodam, followed by a scenic drive of around 8 to 9 hours towards Majua Top in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The route takes you through beautiful valleys, mountain roads, pine forests and peaceful Himalayan villages, giving you a refreshing start to your short mountain escape.
  • On arrival near Majua Top, check in to your campsite surrounded by open natural landscapes. After settling in, spend some time relaxing, walking around the campsite and enjoying the calm mountain atmosphere. As evening arrives, gather around a warm bonfire, enjoy fresh food at the campsite and experience a peaceful night under a sky full of stars.
  • Overnight stay in tents at Majua Top.
Day 2 Explore Majua Top with Sunrise, Sunset and Shepherd Route Walk
  • Wake up early to the fresh mountain breeze and enjoy the peaceful views around the campsite. This day is dedicated to exploring Majua Top at your own pace, depending on whether you want a relaxed nature experience or a light adventure.
  • For a relaxed experience, you can stay around the campsite, walk through the open grassy meadows, enjoy tea with mountain views, click pictures and simply spend time in the silence of the Himalayas. The bugyal like slopes make it a beautiful place for families, children and nature lovers to enjoy the outdoors without a tiring trek.
  • For adventure lovers, a short trek to the Majua Top viewpoint is highly recommended. You can start early for a sunrise trek and witness the first golden light falling on the Himalayan peaks. An evening trek for sunset is equally beautiful, as the sky turns orange and pink over the valleys below.
  • You can also take a guided walk through the traditional shepherd route. This trail gives you a closer look at the local mountain lifestyle, forest sections and views of peaks such as Maiktoli, Baljuri, Nanda Kot and the Pindari and Sunderdhunga glacier ranges. Along the way, you may get a chance to understand sheep farming, local traditions and the simple lifestyle of Himalayan shepherds.
  • Return to the campsite by evening. Enjoy another peaceful bonfire night, freshly cooked meals and stargazing.
  • Overnight stay in tents at Majua Top
Day 3 Return from Majua Top to Kathgodam
  • Wake up to your final morning in the mountains and enjoy the last moments of fresh air, open views and peaceful surroundings. After breakfast, pack your bags and begin the return journey towards Kathgodam.
  • The drive back takes around 8 to 9 hours through the same scenic Kumaon route. Reach Kathgodam by evening with beautiful memories of camping, bonfire, Himalayan views, meadow walks and an offbeat beginner friendly trekking experience.
  • Trip ends with unforgettable memories.

  • Majua Top is located in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, above Karmi village, at an altitude of around 2,800 meters. The nearest railway station is Kathgodam, which is around 8 to 9 hours away by road. The nearest major bus station is Bageshwar, from where Majua Top is around 4 hours by road. Pantnagar Airport is the nearest airport, located roughly 10 to 11 hours away by road.
  • This trek is best suited for beginners, nature lovers, families, school groups, college groups and corporate outdoor trips. Although the trek is easy, basic fitness is recommended as you will be walking on natural trails, grassy slopes and uneven mountain paths.
  • Carry warm clothes, trekking shoes with good grip, extra socks, a raincoat or poncho, woollen cap, gloves, water bottle, torch or headlamp, sunscreen, lip balm, personal medicines and valid ID proof. A small backpack is recommended for day use.
  • Weather in the mountains can change quickly. Spring brings rhododendron flowers, monsoon may bring floating clouds and misty views, while winter can offer snow trekking and camping conditions. Always follow the trek guide’s instructions and avoid moving away from the group without informing the team.
  • Respect local culture, village life and natural surroundings. Do not litter at the campsite, meadow, forest trail or viewpoint. Carry back your waste and help keep Majua Top clean and peaceful.

  • 👉 In case your package needs to be canceled due to any natural calamity, weather conditions, etc. SkyHike reserves the right to deny a refund request in the event of a disaster, depending on the nature of the disaster and its impact on the organization.
  • 👉 Sky Hike reserves the right to modify the itinerary at any point, due to reasons including but not limited to Force Majeure events, strikes, fairs, festivals, weather conditions, traffic problems, cancellation, rescheduling, closure of /entry restrictions at a place of visit, etc. While we will do our best to make suitable alternate arrangements, we will not be held liable for any refunds/compensation claims arising out of this.
  • 👉 SkyHike is not liable for loss, injury, or damage to person or property caused due to natural calamities or accidents.
  • 👉Travelers/Trekkers must take full responsibility for their personal belongings.
  • 👉Travel Insurance is not included unless mentioned. Strongly recommended for high-risk destinations or international travel.
Cancelation & Refund Policy
  • 👉 The advance amount is non-refundable.
  • 👉 The guest is eligible to request a refund only if the paid booking amount exceeds 30%.
  • 👉 If cancellation is made 30 days or more before the Date of Travel, 30% of the total Booking Cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • 👉 If cancellation is made between 29 days to 16 days before the date of travel, 50% of the total Booking Cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • 👉 If cancellation is made between 7 days to 15 days before the date of travel, 80% of the total Booking Cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
  • 👉 If cancellation is made within 7 days before the date of travel, the total booking cost will be charged as cancellation fees.
    Last-minute No-Show: 100% cancellation charges applicable. No reschedule. No refund.
  • 👉 If payment is not made as per the schedule provided in the first booking confirmation Email, Sky Hike reserves the right to cancel the booking after attempting to get in touch with you. Refunds will be issued as per the package cancellation policy.
  • 👉 Transfer your Trek/Trip (any Trek/Trip, within 2 months of your Date of Travel) to your friend before 15 days of your Date of Travel. However, your friend will be eligible for the transfer only if they have not booked any trip/trek with us and have yet to travel.
  • 👉 You can only transfer your Trip or Trek to those friends or People who haven’t booked any trip with us in a given time period.
  • 👉 80% cash voucher in the form of 'HikeCoin' for any other Trip/Trek for one year, if we are informed before 20 days of the date of travel. (1 Rupees = 10 HikeCoin)
  • 👉 90% cash voucher in the form of 'HikeCoin' for the same Trip/Trek for one year. If we are informed 20 days before the date of travel, (1 Rupee = 10 HikeCoin)
  • 👉 The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days.
  • 👉 The company is not liable for compensation beyond the tour cost.
  • 👉 Non-Refundable Items: Flight/train/bus tickets once issued are non-refundable.
  • 👉 Permit fees, forest entry charges, or third-party service charges are non-refundable.
  • 👉 Flight/train/bus tickets once issued are non-refundable unless the carrier’s official policy allows cancellation with a refund.
  • 👉 Flight/train/bus tickets applicable refunds will be processed as per the terms of that organization or Booking Portal, and service charges (if any) will be deducted.
  • 👉 No refund will be made for partially utilized services like early check-out, skipped meals, missed sightseeing, or transport.
  • 👉 If sightseeing tickets have been pre-booked, refund eligibility will depend on the official cancellation policy of the issuing authority or managing organization of that specific attraction.
Child Policy
  • 👉 We recommend avoiding going on adventure trips with young children below the age of 7 years, including Dham Yatra. The Dham Yatra has a demanding itinerary that can be challenging for young children.
  • 👉 Children under 5 years old are free of charge. However, please note that this typically applies to one child per paying couple. Additional children under 5 Y/O may require a separate seat or pay a discounted fare.
  • 👉 Children between 6 and 12 years old will be charged 70% of the adult travel cost (per person).
  • 👉 Children 12 years and older will be charged the full adult travel cost.
  • 👉 Please be sure to provide the accurate age of all traveling children at the time of booking.
  • 👉 Documentation proving a child's age may be required during check-in (e.g., birth certificate, Adhar Card/Passport).
